Coffee break

Wow. So everything I wrote on here was just lost. I should have known better. Well coffee break, take 2

Here it is, basically I'm saying that coffee breaks are one of the smaller problems posing a bug problem. Small problems are fine and normal, not to mention manageable, but certainly, believe me when I say a lot of smaller problems can create one really big problem, especially when they are all creating problems in the same aspect.

Our society has come a long way, some ways for the better whole others, not so much. Ya satellite tv is great, but could we not be outside enjoying time with nature or friends? We live with family so I mean realistically they would be out television if we had no television.

Coffee breaks have become a staple in our spciety though, jokes aside, it is extremely maladaptive. And I won't get into my rant about coffee being the reason Italians are short and that there is an undocumented correlation between coffee, teachers and Italians lol

We need that coffee break, even as students we get it; we are straight up, babied and continually infantilized by the governing bodies in order to have that ability to say, "come on, don't slack, look, we give you time to do your own thing" in reality this is true that they do this but at what cost. At the cost of our successors' abilities. I'm serious, and id be the first person to say it but school shouldn't have summer and heck yes all the pa. Or pd. days on top of the holidays are brutal; I'm a tyrant in training, certainly, I think uniforms are great and the beginning of building good character is giving students the ability to be held accountable for themselves and the opportunity to create a name for themselves, this is how we develop the human race elites.

I mean, I am one who stands strongly for creation, imagination and individualism but it is so strongly abused, soooo abused by students and I had a supply teacher say it to me while on placement last week, the students are in control and they know it. Principals, administration and teachers can say all they want but at the end of the day; you notice it; the teacher accommodates the student, the principal assigns detentions to students that don't show up, they accumulate and that is that, no questions; a student misses half a year of school and then is worked back into the system, expecting that the student will transition with no problem cause that is what teachers do. The reality of it being that the student may move on due to their prior knowledge, redo the course or just merely pass because the teacher is sympathetic to them.

The idea of the coffee break is a little break in our ensemble, we have a few minutes in our day to be ourselves and turn off the performance; no matter who you are or what you do; that is why people are so tired at the end Of the day. We perform and perform day after day, at work with friends; you can be the happiest individual alive but it does not change the stone cold fact that we all have bad days, and we all handle them naturally or at the very least, what is natural to us.

Hats off to those that have a bad day and are able to take it into themselves without letting loose on some poor soul passing by at the time. This is what the coffee break is for, a moment to collect and redirect; whether you work customer service or public sector as an information teller, the fact is we are always performing; self policing, ya, it's a thing.

Jeremy Bentham had an idea, a prison blueprint called the panopticon. It was an interesting blue print as it was a circular prison that touched end to end, completed circle. Directly in the middle was a glass tower that could not be seen into but could certainly be seen out of. The purpose of this tower was to create the illusion of 24/7 survelliamce. The prisoner's cells would be open concept as they are now only the main hallways would be located on the on er wall while the inmates were able to look upon eah other's cells and the tower, not knowing exactly who was watching them, but that someone was always watching them would force them to ideally behave themselves, continued behaviour hopefully reinforces rehabilitation, etc.

The point is, as much as I like coffee and as much as I like breaking. I think we need to remove folks, and as the great Comeau puts it. Remove what you ask? Well my friend, I need you to remove your head from your ass.

I wrote this on my coffee break just to help you make sense of it all :)

Cheers :)

C.B.
